About
The Southrose Merino & Poll Merino stud was established following the division of the bigger Ashrose partnership (and stud) back in 1988.
Jim, in particular, has been an advocate of the Merino breed and the Australian wool industry since he left college. Despite many events over the years that would have had many hanging up their hat, Jim has resolutely continued to pursue his passion and belief that the dual purpose qualities of Merinos justify their position as the premium sheep breed.
Currently running 900 breeding ewes, the Southrose stud is managed by an overall breeding strategy that has consistently produced sheep that represent the finest examples of the breed. This strategy is complemented by a flexible approach that allows us to recognise and respond to changes in our clients’ needs based on the market.
In recent years our commitment to both AI and ET programs has allowed us to now offer clients the outstanding wool quality and volume that is synonymous with Southrose but on a bigger, plainer frame.
Rams are available for purchase at the on -property auction on the third Thursday in September each year and also by private selection.
