Contract Seeding

You could say that the Southrose Contracting business was developed because we are suckers for punishment. Never-ending time in a tractor seat, listening to talk back radio, often at night – what were we thinking?

But it all stemmed from the overall strategy of renovating our own property and to achieve that we needed to purchase a machine. To off set that cost, we also needed take it off farm and so the contracting business was born.

The K-Hart Triple Disc Air Seeder (a no-till machine) was ideal for work in the fragile soil that is so prevalent in our area and it has achieved success that even we couldn’t have hoped for. Across a range of country the machine (plus operator!) has had consistent results establishing lucerne and cereal crops in very challenging conditions and seasons.

Clients considering contract seeding are invited to Southrose to view paddocks that have been renovated on our property using the machine.

Contract Spraying

After a few years contract seeding, we realised there was a lot of fun to be had... so we now offer contract spraying to clients in the local area.
