JONO

The oldest son of Jim and Hilary’s four boys, Jono’s passion for farming is so deep that it’s tragically impossible to come up with a hobby or pastime that he prefers. Jim and Hilary did their best to send him into the wide world and he got as far as a two year stint at Uardry in NSW, before returning home in 1998 to work at Southrose.

Since late 2010, Jono has taken over the running of the property in Jim and Hilary's absence and is continuing the development of the property.  His passion for merinos drives his plan for the pasture renovation of Southrose and our commitment to getting back out and about promoting the stud.  He has also been the driver behind the evolution of the Southrose type into a bigger, plainer sheep that still maintains their wool quality and volume.

ZEL

Zel was wooed by a charming Ashby and before you could put a hose clamp on her ring finger, she was in. A previous life wearing fabulous shoes while working in advertising was given up in favour of Rossi boots and a lifetime of jokes surrounding Farmer Wants a Wife.

Zel looks after the administration and marketing of Southrose and also has her hands full with Fred & Henry, Jono and Zel's two boys.

JIM & HILARY

Jim and Hilary, (Jono's parents) established Southrose over 30 years ago and up until recently were an integral part of the day to day running of the property.

But late in 2010, Jim became ill unexpectedly and so recently they have stepped back from working on the farm to base themselves in Adelaide and focus on Jim's recovery.  Hilary also works as an Occupational Therapist with the government and she continues to do that in conjunction with supporting Jim.

Jim and Hil get back to Southrose as often as they can and provide a vital support role to Jono and Zel.
